A donation of 500 000 euro
utilized in more than 200 projects
Today in the official hall of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo was announced the
information with regards the implementation of the E.ON project for
support of the victims of the torrential rains in 2005. The public
was acquainted with the results of the specific for Veliko Tarnovo
district projects.
After the districts of Ruse and Silistra, Veliko Tarnovo is the third
district centre where Mr. Ralph Pesch, member of the Management Board
of E.ON Bulgaria, handed over to families affected by the floods, a
symbolic key to their new homes.
The torrential rains in the summer of last year brought about heavy
floods in the whole country. At the background of this dire situation
E.ON Bulgaria, with the support of the mother company E.ON Energie,
Munich, succeeded in a short time and in a bureaucracy-free manner to
broker financial help to the tune of 500 000 Euro.
“We are happy that we managed to support over 50 suffering families,
here in the district of Veliko Tarnovo: 42 houses were reconstructed,
while for nine of the families without shelter we provided for the
purchase of new homes. A certain amount of the donation was allocated
for the renovation of a kindergarten in the village of Butovo,
Pavlikeni municipality” said Mr. Pesch.
The funds for these particular projects in the District of Veliko
Tarnovo amount to nearly 220 000 BGN.
The decisions on the selection of each of these projects have been
made by a committee set up together with representatives of the
Bulgarian Red Cross.
“We are glad that in the face of the Bulgarian Red Cross we have
found a competent and acknowledged partner with extensive experience
in the realisation of donations related projects” Mr. Pesch said,
thanking the Bulgarian Red Cross on his behalf and on behalf of his
colleagues from the Management Board of E.ON Bulgaria for the good
cooperation.
Projects for the support of people having suffered from the
devastating floods have been successfully implemented in the regions
of Silistra, Ruse, Shumen, Targovishte, Dobrich and Razgrad, their
total number exceeding 200.
The major part of the donation has been earmarked for the purchase of
houses. Another part of the funds was utilized for supporting the
reconstruction of partly demolished houses, public buildings,
including kindergartens on the territory of North-Eastern Bulgaria.
“As a Bulgarian company we have special responsibilities towards
society and its welfare in Bulgaria. We are glad that with our
donation we succeeded to provide sustained support to the affected
families in the build-ing of their homes and the removal of the
afflicted damages”, said Mr. Pesch.
E.ON Bulgaria is the majority holder of 59% stake in EDC Varna and
EDC Gorna Oriahovitsa. In total the two companies realize annual
sales of electricity of nearly 4.9 TWh, supply more than 1.1 million
customers and maintain about 40 000 km of electric power supply
networks.
