E.ON Bulgaria received honors at the Annual awards for socially responsible business 2009 of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF) for the implementation of the „Safety without compromise” project. The company took the third place in the „Investor in human capital and labor conditions” category with its program for safe labor conditions within the company.

With this project E.ON Bulgaria aims at the realization by the employees of the company that the strict adherence to the instructions and safety measures at work, guarantees their life and health and the high level of professional operation. As part of the project the Board of Management of E.ON Bulgaria held meetings with all the employees under the motto “Security in life. Safety at the work place”.

The company prepared informational materials of the major safety measures and of providing first aid in case of labor accidents or incidents and made a training film on the necessary measures that have to be followed in compliance with the safety instructions of the company and the Bulgarian legislature. At the end of the year the official opening was held of the Training center on safety at work and operation of E.ON Bulgaria Grid, where it is expected that training will be received by over 1000 employees by the end of 2010 and employees from partner companies. Visits for students of Professional Schools of Electric Engineering and Electronics are additionally organized in the Centre.

The Seventh Annual BBLF Awards, which popularize companies with the most serious contribution in the corporate social responsibility in Bulgaria, were presented yesterday at an official ceremony held in the Sheraton Hotel, Sofia. The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Totyo Mladenov, handed an honorary diploma to Daria Maneva, E.ON Bulgaria Head of Communications, “The policy of protecting the employees’ life and health is a top priority and a number-one objective for the company. “Safety without any compromise” is another demonstration of the effort which E. ON Bulgaria has been making in this direction and it is a reason for the management to show its personal commitment to the work safety matters.” Daria Maneva stated.

In the traditional ranking of socially responsible companies took part prestigious organizations and firms, whose projects are distinguished for a specific community benefit, partnership with other organizations, all employees’ engagement in the project’s realization, continuance and consistency of the initiative, innovation and social recognition. The traditional awards were in five categories – “Human Resources Investor”, “Environment Investor”, “Social Investor”, “Knowledge Investor”, “Cause Marketing”. The special “Engage” award of the International Business Leaders Forum of the Prince of Wales was also handed during the ceremony, as well as the special award for small and average enterprise with the best social policy.
