E.ON Bulgaria is participating in an Energy Efficiency Christmas campaign – Consume Efficiently, Save Progressively. The campaign is taking place under the aegis of MEET, MEW, and the Energy Efficiency Agency.E.ON Bulgaria has taken part in the Energy Efficiency Campaign ‘Consume Efficiently, Save Progressively’. From tomorrow, 16 December 2009, the three Electricity Distributing Companies in Bulgaria – CEZ Bulgaria, E.ON Bulgaria, and EVN, in partnership with the three big commercial chains for black and white goods – Technomarket, Domo, and Thechnopolis start an Energy Efficiency Christmas campaign. The campaign is taking place under the aegis of the Ministry of Economics, Energy and Tourism, the Ministry of Environment and Water, and the Energy Efficiency Agency. Each customer of Technopolis, Domo, and Technomarket, in the country, will be entitled to 10% discount when buying a new refrigerator with a high class of energy efficiency, such as A, A+, or A++. The discount in the refrigerators’ price will be covered by the five companies, organizing the initiative. 101 stores in the country are involved in the promotional campaign, which will be in progress until 16 January 2010. At the event, under the title of ‘Be Class A’, were present the Minister of Economics, Energy, and Tourism Mr. Traicho Traikov, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Waters Mrs. Klementina Deneva, Mr. Tasko Ermenkov – Executive Director of the Energy Efficiency Agency and representatives of the three home appliances commercial chains. The initiative is targeted at promulgating the use of energy saving electrical appliances as one of the most effective ways of reducing the consumption of electricity by the households. According to the experts the replacement of the old refrigerator with a new appliance is proven among the most efficient methods for a family to reduce its electricity bills. For comparison the annual consumption of a class A/A+ refrigerator with an average capacity of 200 liters is 122,7 kWh, while with the refrigerators of the lower class B this index is 218,7 kWh. This means that if an electrical appliance is of a high class of energy efficiency А/А+ it uses twice less electric power than the ones from class B. For the period of the campaign ‘Consume effectively, save progressively’ CEZ Bulgaria, E.ON Bulgaria, EVN, Technomarket, Domo and Technopolis expect nearly 15 000 refrigerators of high energy class to be sold. That way the effect will be more than 5 MM kWh of saved electricity per year. And the final effect, considering the average duration of the use of the refrigerators is expected to reach 41 MM kWh of saved electric power. The intention of the campaign organizers – CEZ Bulgaria, E.ON Bulgaria, EWN, Technomarket, Domo, and Technopolis – is to make this first step a long-term initiative and include more class A electrical appliances in the campaign, because the electricity consumption awareness is a step towards increasing the social sensitivity when it comes to environment preservation and climate change prevention. For E.ON Bulgaria, this is the second consecutive initiative regarding energy efficiency stimulation. In 2008, the company, together with Technomarket, Domo, and JetCredit organized the E.ON Energy + Campaign in which over 20 000 E.ON Bulgaria customers bought discounted class A/A+ electrical appliances. |
