World Consumer Rights Day was first observed on March 15th, 1983. Since then the event has become an occasion for mobilizing citizen activity.

World Consumer Rights Day has its origins in former US President John F. Kennedy’s declaration on the main consumer rights, which included:

  • The right to safety;
  • The right to be informed;
  • The right to choose;
  • The right to be heard.

Two years after the first World Consumer Rights Day, on April the 9th, 1985, the United Nations’ General Assembly adopted the UN Guidelines for Consumer Protection. In Bulgaria that day has been observed since 1991.

The guidelines cover the principles of the consumer rights and serve to strengthening the national consumer protection polices.

With the UN’s adoption of the guidelines, consumer rights were finally elevated to a level of international importance and legitimacy and are acknowledged by many developed and developing countries.

E.ON Bulgaria has stated repeatedly that the client is in the center of all its activities. That is why the company is doing everything possible for the constant improvement of the service quality.
